Our Commitment to Net Zero

At Auxilium Community Housing CIC, we believe that supporting people and protecting the planet go hand in hand. The homes and services we provide must not only be safe and inclusive, but also environmentally responsible.

We are publicly committed to achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050, with an internal target of reaching Net Zero by 2040. This commitment reflects both national targets and Brighton & Hove City Council’s Carbon Neutral 2030 vision.

We are already taking active steps to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions across all areas of our work:

  • All supported homes achieve EPC ratings of C or above, with continued investment in energy-efficient upgrades.

  • We promote active and sustainable travel for our staff, using local teams, hybrid working, and low-emission vehicles.

  • Our offices and housing operations follow a paper-light approach, using digital systems to reduce waste and improve efficiency.

  • We reuse and recycle furniture and materials, gifting items to residents as part of their move-on plan and working with partners such as Emmaus Brighton and Freegle to keep usable goods out of landfill.

  • We support community environmental projects like Beach Cleans and local community gardening initiatives, helping residents take part in making their neighbourhoods greener.

During 2026, we will publish our first Carbon Reduction Plan, developed in partnership with Brighton & Hove City Council. This plan will set out our baseline emissions, reduction targets, and the practical actions we’ll take to achieve them.

Environmental sustainability is a key part of how we deliver social value — by creating homes that are healthy for people and for the planet
